01. Become an Airline-Ready® Student

Earn a dual license (EASA & FAA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL ME/IR) with Frozen ATPL), providing all required qualifications to begin a professional pilot career. At OSM, quality and professionalism are central to our training philosophy, ensuring graduates develop the technical competence, discipline, and operational mindset sought by airlines worldwide. The program is delivered across two continents, with one year of training in the USA and one year in Norway, offering extensive experience in varied climates, complex airspace environments, and real-world airline-style operations.

02. Direct Pathway to the Airline Assessment

As an OSM alumnus, you gain access to an exclusive Widerøe recruitment link when the airline is hiring pilots. This provides a unique opportunity to apply to Widerøe using your OSM flight hours alone, with no additional flight experience required. Widerøe independently selects candidates to invite for assessment, and OSM alumni are eligible for interview consideration through this process.

One of the final courses in the OSM program is the APS/MCC, which emphasizes on Multi Crew Cooperation, and airline-style operations—core competencies assessed during the Widerøe selection process. Following interviews and assessments, successful candidates may be offered positions as First Officers on the Dash 8.

03. Become a First Officer on the Dash-8

Once accepted by Widerøe, candidates complete a Dash 8 Type Rating, a specialized training program focused on operating this aircraft. The training is conducted according to Widerøe’s operational standards, with the full cost covered by the airline. Upon successful completion of the Type Rating, candidates are appointed as First Officers on the Dash 8, flying passengers to regional destinations and officially beginning their professional airline careers.

How to Apply

In order to be eligible to start at OSM Aviation Academy, you’ll be required to pass our online based admission test. The admission test will check your abilities to become a pilot, by testing, amongst other things, where your strengths and weaknesses lie. Passing our admission test will show you have good prerequisites to become a solid pilot.

A passed admission test is valid for one year.

When the application is received by us we will issue you a contract which has to be signed within 14 days. After the contract is signed and the registration fee of 25,000 NOK/SEK has been paid, your seat at the school will be secured. Continuing from there, you will be contacted by our student coordinator with practical information regarding the course start.

You will need to acquire an EASA Class 1 Medical Examination as soon as possible. The Certficate MUST be Swedish (the medical procedure can still be done in Norway, Sweden or The Nederlands)
